Giving Back - FIRST Robotics

TSI takes great pride in our support and leadership in Colorado FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). FIRST, founded by inventor Dean Kamen, was created to inspire an appreciation of science and technology in young people, their schools, and communities. It is a non-profit organization which designs accessible, innovative programs to build self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills while motivating students to pursue opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math. FIRST brings together schools with businesses, and students with professional mentors, all with the support of local universities. In addition to supporting Colorado FIRST, TSI is a sponsor of FIRST Robotics Competition Team 1410 from George Washington High School in Denver and several of TSI's employees mentor the team.

Dawn Lutz and Donald Lutz have been volunteers for FIRST for over ten years. In various roles - from team mentor to chair of the Colorado FIRST Operating Committee to Regional Director to FIRST Ambassador - they have touched the lives of hundreds of kids that have come through the program. Our employees have all been involved with FIRST in some capacity - as a student participant, coach, mentor, or volunteer. TSI also provides office space and administrative support for Colorado FIRST.

Please take a moment to explore the site, coloradofirst.org and usfirst.org, to understand the value of the program. It may inspire you or your organization to get involved or contribute to the cause. Helping students get involved and compete in technology today will bring about greater advancements and more opportunities for them in the future.
